For nearly 500 million users WhatsApp is for sale on the Dark Web. According to Cybernews, an advertisement posted on a well-known hacker community forum stated to have affected 487 million WhatsApp users whose mobile phone numbers are being sold.
It was explained to the specialized media that they were selling the US data set for $7,000, the UK for $2,500 and Germany for $2,000. The total leaked data contains information from WhatsApp users from 84 countries.
Specifically, the database includes phone numbers of users from India, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey and other Arab and international countries.
This is why we want you to check if your number is among those on this long list with just a few very simple steps.
If you are concerned about this, you can check through the Cybernews website. The website has a search engine that allows users to find out if their phone number has been hacked or not. "Our test device has a 500GB database of leaked emails," says the website.
