When it comes to stealing information, fraud, or committing a crime online, the options are many. In this case, deepfake sophisticated theft, but Intel seems to have a solution.
At the height of this technology, which has already been used even on Elon Musk himself, and which has caused hundreds of people to fall for scams, Intel has launched an artificial intelligence that can combat deepfakes.
This new tool, called FakeCatcher, is able to detect in real time if any video is fake, since it has an accuracy of 96% and returns in milliseconds, which will help reduce the number of people affected by this theft.
The tool is a collaboration of a detector designed by Elke Demer, senior research scientist at Intel Labs, with Omur Sevci of the State University of New York at Binghamton.
What's new from Intel compared to other software is that FakeCatcher directly analyzes how veins change color when the heart pumps blood, which doesn't happen in a fake video. This is possible thanks to the use of deep learning, which helps to detect whether a video is real or fake.
According to Intel, thanks to tools like FakeCatcher, you can help "restore trust" in media, by making it possible to distinguish between real and fake content.
